Statutory Leave for Pregnancy Loss: Preparing for Change
Pregnancy loss can be life-altering and is commonly experienced as a profound grief, yet workplace support has historically been inconsistent or absent. With upcoming legislative changes set to recognise early pregnancy loss within statutory bereavement leave formally, organisations have a critical opportunity not only to comply but to lead with compassion and clarity.
This interactive session will help employers, HR professionals, and managers build the knowledge, confidence, and practical tools to prepare effectively, support employees meaningfully, and implement change beyond minimum requirements.
In this free session, we will cover:
A clear overview of the upcoming extension to statutory bereavement leave under the Employment Rights Act.
What these changes mean in practice for employers, HR professionals and managers.
The opportunities and challenges of embedding this change into organisational policy, practice and culture.
Practical guidance on implementation, communication and consistency.
Key considerations, including potential limitations, gaps and exclusions, e.g., duration, perception of loss, paid/unpaid leave, etc.
How to go beyond compliance - leading the way in creating a compassionate, inclusive and progressive workplace.
Details of MIST Workshops Ltd’s policy writing and reviewing services.
Plus, an opportunity to ask questions and discuss real-world scenarios.
Beyond the Rainbow: A World Childless Week Awareness Session
Countless employees are affected by childlessness. Indeed, one in five women and one in four men do not have children, and an estimated 90% of those are childless not by choice. For some, this is linked to pregnancy loss. Not everyone experiences the ‘rainbow baby’ often portrayed as part of the healing narrative after miscarriage. Childlessness has a profound impact on affected employees, including grief, stereotypes, misconceptions, and even unfair treatment based on parental status. This interactive session showcases why workplaces must formally acknowledge childlessness and create a more inclusive environment for all employees.

Certificated training - Pregnancy Loss in the Workplace: How to Better Support Affected Colleagues
One in four pregnancies ends in loss, yet pregnancy loss remains a stigmatised issue and is largely unsupported in the workplace. The pregnancy loss experience can have significant physical and psychological effects, which extend into work. However, employees frequently do not receive the necessary support from their employers. In many cases, individuals feel unable to disclose their loss, and when they do, they commonly face insensitive responses and sometimes discriminatory practices due to a lack of awareness.
This comprehensive, interactive half-day workshop offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of pregnancy loss through facilitator-led training, case study discussions, and individual and group activities within a supportive space.
The course content is grounded in the latest academic research; however is presented in a practical and accessible manner.
This half-day training is suitable for all – including managers, HR professionals and colleagues.
Specifically, delegates are able to:
Enhance their understanding of pregnancy loss, including its various types, prevalence, causes, risk factors, treatments, and physical and psychological effects.
Gain clarity on the rights and entitlements of affected employees in the workplace.
Engage in communication training to learn appropriate and inappropriate responses to pregnancy loss disclosure.
Explore available support options for colleagues experiencing pregnancy loss.
Please note that this session addresses sensitive topics, and participants are encouraged to take breaks as needed. We kindly remind attendees to be considerate that some individuals in the group may have personal experience with pregnancy loss. Participants will not be asked to share their own experiences.

Supporting Him Through Pregnancy Loss: A Movember Awareness Session
Partners commonly experience pregnancy loss as a profound bereavement, yet often do not receive adequate social recognition or support. Commonly placed in the supporter role, partners often encounter disenfranchised, delayed and complex grief. They are also more at risk of mental health illness. In this interactive session, delegates explore the impact of pregnancy loss on partners and consider various ways to better support male colleagues who are affected by this issue in the workplace.

Preparing for 2027: Pregnancy Loss Bereavement Leave
A bite-sized, focused session to help you sense-check your organisation’s readiness for this policy.
The introduction of statutory bereavement leave for pregnancy loss marks a significant shift in how workplaces recognise and respond to miscarriage. As the implementation date approaches, employers must ensure not only compliance, but clarity, consistency and confidence in how this is applied in practice.
This bite-sized, focused session offers an opportunity to sense-check your organisation’s readiness for implementing this policy.
The 30-minute webinar is designed to provide a concise, practical overview of what matters most right now - helping you identify any gaps, challenges and take final steps ahead of the change.
In this session, we will cover:
An overview of the upcoming legislative change.
What ‘ready’ looks like in practice for organisations, HR and managers.
Legal compliance.
Common gaps, challenges and last-minute considerations.
Practical steps to take in the final months before implementation.
How to ensure a consistent, compassionate approach from day one.
How MIST Workshops Ltd. can support with policy writing, reviews and readiness.
Understanding Mental Health After Pregnancy Loss
Pregnancy loss can have profound and lasting psychological implications, with some experiencing clinically recognised mental health illnesses, such as anxiety, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Despite the prevalence of these issues, women are often undiagnosed and struggle to access adequate support. This session provides delegates with the opportunity to examine current research into the mental health impact of pregnancy loss and identify ways to better support colleagues experiencing these challenges at work.

When Loss is Invisible: Talking about Miscarriage at Work
Pregnancy loss is a common experience, affecting at least one in four pregnancies. While public conversation has begun to challenge the stigma surrounding it, miscarriage remains a hidden issue, especially within the workplace. In this informative and interactive session, delegates explore why pregnancy loss has historically been silenced and consider practical ways to open up compassionate, informed conversations at work. Creating space for discussions around miscarriage not only improves employee wellbeing and engagement but also supports productivity and helps organisations to retain talent.
