Certificated training - Pregnancy Loss in the Workplace: How to Better Support Affected Colleagues

One in four pregnancies ends in loss, yet pregnancy loss remains a stigmatised issue and is largely unsupported in the workplace. The pregnancy loss experience can have significant physical and psychological effects, which extend into work. However, employees frequently do not receive the necessary support from their employers. In many cases, individuals feel unable to disclose their loss, and when they do, they commonly face insensitive responses and sometimes discriminatory practices due to a lack of awareness.

This comprehensive, interactive half-day workshop offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of pregnancy loss through facilitator-led training, case study discussions, and individual and group activities within a supportive space.

The course content is grounded in the latest academic research; however is presented in a practical and accessible manner.

This half-day training is suitable for all – including managers, HR professionals and colleagues.

Specifically, delegates are able to:

  • Enhance their understanding of pregnancy loss, including its various types, prevalence, causes, risk factors, treatments, and physical and psychological effects.

  • Gain clarity on the rights and entitlements of affected employees in the workplace.

  • Engage in communication training to learn appropriate and inappropriate responses to pregnancy loss disclosure.

  • Explore available support options for colleagues experiencing pregnancy loss.

Please note that this session addresses sensitive topics, and participants are encouraged to take breaks as needed. We kindly remind attendees to be considerate that some individuals in the group may have personal experience with pregnancy loss. Participants will not be asked to share their own experiences.
