MISS Annual General Meeting 2025
On Wednesday, the 26th of November, this year’s Annual General Meeting was held and gave everyone the opportunity to come together and celebrate the successes of 2025 and discuss plans for further growth in 2026.
We have noted down some of the highlights:
Charity Shop
The charity shop has continued to grow in strength since its opening in June 2024. It is now open Tuesday - Sunday every week and has a growing base of wonderful staff and volunteers, for whom we are very grateful. In the last year, they have held several successful events, including Halloween, their first anniversary and many discounted item days. All of this has led to a huge amount of support for MISS, as well as providing the community with a more sustainable and affordable place to shop.
Fundraising
Over the last year, many groups and individuals have participated in and hosted fundraising events for MISS. This has included: Kilt Walk, Loch Ness Marathon, Edinburgh Half Marathon, Edinburgh 10k, Supernova Forth Road Bridge Run, a 12 Hour Darts Marathon, a sponsored walk by Laurencekirk Nursery, a raffle held by Acu-rate Acupuncture Clinic in Dundee and a yoga fundraiser. We would like to say a massive thank you to anyone who took part in any of these events. On average, each supporter raised £495, which will go a very long way in helping us with the work that we do!
As well as this, the Aberdeen Student Show raised an enormous £4,497.56, and the Young Philanthropy Initiative included 9 visits and 3 winning schools: Westhill, Aboyne and Mearns Academies, raising a huge £3000 each! A very big well done and thank you to everyone involved in either of these projects. Our corporate partnerships with CNR, Apollo, Interwell, Joseph Robertson and Robertson have brought further support to us this year, a huge thanks to them.
In 2025, MISS held three different fundraisers: the Ashvale Bingo and Quiz, Ladies Wicked themed afternoon tea at Norwood Hall and our MISS fashion show. These have been a lot of fun and have allowed us to bring the community together while raising money for the work that we do as a charity, so another big thank you to everyone who organised or attended these events.
Support Services
Our One-to-Ones, Virtual Support Groups and new Pregnancy After Loss services have provided 100s of hours of support for couples and individuals. These will, of course, be continuing into 2026 with some exciting changes, including a creative support group that will allow attendees to journal and craft together in groups led by support coordinators. Our memory boxes and packs have been provided to Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, Dr Grays, Tayside Hospital and Oban Hospital, as well as to individuals through the post. We provided 410 memory boxes to hospitals, posted 76 memory boxes and 83 support packs.
What’s next?
2026 promises to be another big year for MISS! We will be launching our new Pregnancy After Loss Group, continuing to progress with our Forget Me Not Memorial Garden, and of course, providing support to anyone who needs us in the way that they feel will help them best. While we can’t tell you everything quite yet, you can sign up for our monthly newsletter and stay up to date with us through Instagram and Facebook.
A final thanks to everyone who has supported us in any way this year. It allows us to do the vital work that we do in providing free, confidential support to anyone in Scotland impacted by pregnancy loss.
