For families affected by pregnancy and baby loss, having somewhere peaceful to visit, reflect and remember can hold enormous significance.
Across Scotland, there are beautiful gardens, memorials and quiet spaces dedicated to remembering babies. However, many of these special places are not widely known about, making them difficult for families to discover.
At MISS, we believe families should have the opportunity to find these spaces and feel connected to places of remembrance within their own communities.
Bringing Scotland's Memorial Spaces Together
Our Scotland-wide memorial mapping project aims to identify and bring together information about dedicated baby loss memorial gardens, remembrance areas and other meaningful spaces across the country.
By creating an accessible resource, we hope to help families discover places where they can remember and honour their precious babies, whether close to home or somewhere that holds personal significance.
The project also aims to raise awareness of the many thoughtful spaces that have been created by families, charities, local authorities and communities throughout Scotland.
Each of these spaces represents love, remembrance and the importance of ensuring that babies who are no longer with us are never forgotten.
Inspired by the Importance of Remembrance
Our own Forget Me Not Memorial Garden has shown us just how meaningful a dedicated space of remembrance can be.
The garden provides a peaceful environment where families can spend time remembering their babies, find moments of reflection and feel connected to others who understand.
We recognise that every family's experience of grief is different. For some, visiting a physical memorial space can offer comfort and a sense of connection, while others may simply appreciate knowing that such spaces exist.
Through this project, we hope to make information about these special places easier to find, helping families access spaces of remembrance whenever they feel the need.
Can You Help Us?
We would love to hear from individuals, families, community groups and organisations across Scotland who know of a baby loss memorial garden or dedicated space of remembrance.
This could include:
Dedicated baby loss memorial gardens
Memorial areas within cemeteries or churchyards
Remembrance benches, sculptures or monuments
Community spaces created in memory of babies
Other publicly accessible places dedicated to pregnancy and baby loss remembrance
Whether it's a well-known memorial garden or a small, quiet space tucked away in your local community, we'd love to hear about it.
By sharing what you know, you could help another family discover somewhere meaningful to remember their baby.
Help Us Create a Map of Remembrance
This project is about more than identifying locations. It's about recognising the love, memories and connections that these spaces represent, while helping families across Scotland discover places where their babies are remembered.
Do you know of a baby loss memorial garden or dedicated space of remembrance in Scotland?
We would love to hear from you.
If you know of a space that could be included in our project, please email info@miss-support.org.uk with its name, location and any information you feel would be helpful.
Every contribution, no matter how small, could help another family discover a meaningful place of remembrance.
Together, we can help ensure these special spaces are recognised, celebrated and easier for families to find. 💜
